A tribute to Jeanne Demessieux

“For the 90th anniversary of Jeanne Demessieux’s birth, Ligia presents you with the first recording by the young Swedish organist, Hampus Lindwall. He was Rolande Falcinelli’s last student in Paris, subsequent to which he has been Titular Organist at Saint Esprit in Paris from 2005, a position held by Jeanne Demessieux from 1933 to 1962.
A brilliant pupil at the Conservatoire de Paris and student of Marcel Dupré, Jeanne was Titular Organist at the Church of Saint Esprit, then at La Madeleine. She was a renowned performer owing to her extraordinary virtuosity, and also taught the organ at the Conservatoires of Nancy and Liège. She published several works dedicated to her instrument.”
